Abstract:Abstract: Chronic insomnia is a prevalent clinical disorder characterized by a prolonged course. It severely impairs quality of life of patients and often relapses despite treatment. In traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), this condition corresponds to the category of "bumei." This paper explores diagnostic and treatment strategies for chronic insomnia based on "midnight-noon ebb-flow medicinal therapy. " The "midnight-noon ebb-flow medicinal therapy" diagnostic and treatment technique employs a "birth-time-based meridian tropism" algorithm, combined with clinical manifestations for syndrome differentiation of meridians. Adhering to the principle of "corresponding to the twelve meridians and five shu points, " patients take specific prescriptions during the opening and closing cycles of their meridians. This technique resolves the difficulty of meridian localization in complex conditions and provides a precise entry point for clinical syndrome differentiation. It offers advantages including rapid syndrome differentiation, simultaneous treatment of body and mind, and remarkable therapeutic efficacy, thereby serving as a valuable reference for TCM treatment of chronic insomnia.
