Introduction to YUAN Shimin's Experience in Treating Stenosing Tenosynovitis of the Flexor Digitorum Tendons Using Micro-Acupotomy Mesh Incision Based on the Sinew- Bone Theory
Abstract:Stenosing tenosynovitis of the flexor digitorum tendons is a chronic inflammatory condition induced by repetitive strain of the tendons and tendon sheaths. Based on the sinew-bone theory of traditional Chinese medicine and clinical experience, Professor YUAN Shimin holds that the core pathogenesis of this disease consists of sinews and vessels strain leading to imbalance between sinews and bones,and qi and blood deficiency leading to malnourishment of the sinews and bones. Professor YUAN developed the micro-acupotomy mesh incision technique in clinical practice. which uses the "target localization via palpation of the sliding swollen tendon" maneuver to precisely locate the affected area,and employs the micro-acupotomy mesh to incise the adhesive tissues. This technique releases sinew nodules in a minimally invasive manner,dredges stagnated qi and blood,thereby nourishing the sinews and vessels,restoring local sinew-bone balance,and demonstrates reliable clinical efficacy.
