Exploration on Traditional Chinese Medicine Syndrome Differentiation and Treatment of Parkinson's Disease Based on the Theory of "Sweat Pores-Qi and Fluid-Brain Collaterals"
Abstract: The sweat pores and brain collaterals are important structures in human brain tissue, providing channels for the circulation of qi-fluid and the functioning of the vital activity. Qi-fluid serves as the material basis for the normal functioning of the sweat pores and brain collaterals. In traditional Chinese medicine (TCM),it is believed that the "sweat pores-qi and fluid-brain collaterals" triad collectively participates in the onset and progression of Parkinson's disease (PD). Based on this theory,this article proposes that "wind disturbing the sweat pores - stagnation and binding of qi and fluid-toxin damaging the brain collaterals" constitutes the primary pathogenesis of PD,which runs through the process of disease onset and progression. In clinical syndrome differentiation and treatment, therapeutic approaches can be developed from the aspects of regulating the sweat pores to suppress wind,nourishing water to enrich wood, unblocking and dispersing qi-fluid, resolving phlegm and dissipating stasis, removing toxins and supplementing the collaterals, and nourishing the sinews to disconnect the route of transmission. Thus, a treatment strategy centered on regulating the sweat pores, unblocking qi-fluid, and supplementing the collaterals can be established,thereby providing a reference for clinical differentiation and treatment of PD in TCM.
