Abstract: Based on the theory of "six constraints, " this study explores the pathogenesis and treatment of autoimmune encephalitis (AE). The core pathogenesis of AE is believed to be "constraint obstructing the orifices, " where qi constraint leads to intertwined dampness, phlegm, heat, blood, and food constraints, ultimately resulting in clouding of the clear orifices and mental confusion. Accordingly, the overarching treatment principle proposed is "relieving constraint to unblock the orifices." The prodromal stage focuses on soothing the liver and relieving constraint, the acute stage emphasizes resolving dampness, dispelling phlegm, and clearing heat, and the recovery stage prioritizes promoting blood circulation and resolving stasis. Throughout the treatment, attention is also paid to promoting digestion and regulating the spleen and stomach. This approach provides a reference for the clinical treatment of AE.
