Abstract:This paper introduces the clinical experience of Professor WANG Bangcai in the treatment of mycotic esophagitis. As one of the common digestive system diseases, mycotic esophagitis is considered by Professor WANG Bangcai to be based on spleen-stomach deficiency, with dampness obstruction and qi stagnation as the key pathogenesis, and intermingled cold and heat as the factor for disease progression. The treatment should follow the principles of strengthening the spleen, eliminating dampness, and regulating qi,as well as harmonizing cold and heat, that is,strengthening the spleen and protecting the stomach to consolidate the root cause, eliminating dampness and regulating qi to treat the branch, and harmonizing cold and heat to prevent recurrence. For strengthening the spleen and boosting qi to consolidate the root, Xiangsha Liujun Decoction or Shenling Baizhu Powder is commonly used. For eliminating dampness and resolving turbidity to expel pathogens, the treatment is determined according to the season or individual constitutions, mostly adopting the method of dispersing pathogens in the triple energizer, with modified Sanren Decoction selected. For harmonizing cold and heat, modified classical prescriptions such as Xiaochaihu Decoction and Banxia Xiexin Decoction are frequently applied. Combined with individual constitutions, modifications are made in accordance with syndromes, thus achieving satisfactory curative effects.
