Abstract:Objective:To observe the clinical effect of combined rod-needle pushing and plucking of pathological sinews in the treatment of shoulder-neck pain after thyroid surgery. Methods: A total of 100 inpatients undergoing thyroid surgery at the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang Chinese Medical University from January 2024 to June 2025 were selected and randomly divided into the rod-needle group and the conventional group using a random number table method in a 1:1 ratio, with 50 cases in each group (no cases were excluded or dropped out). The conventional group received routine intervention, while the rod-needle group received additional treatment with combined rodneedle pushing and plucking of pathological sinews on the basis of the conventional group. The treatment course for both groups was three days. Clinical efficacy, scores of Visual Analogue Scale (VAS),Neck Pain Questionnaire (NPQ), traditional Chinese medicine syndrome, and incidence of adverse reactions were compared between the two groups. Results:After treatment, the total effective rate in the rod-needle group was 96.00% (48/50),significantly higher than that of 82.00% (41/50) in the conventional group (P<0.05). After treatment, the VAS and NPQ scores in both groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment (P<0.05),and the scores in the rod-needle group were lower than those in the conventional group (P<0.05). After treatment, the scores for shoulder-neck stabbing pain, dizziness, limb numbness, and headache in both groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment (P<0.05), and the scores in the rod-needle group were lower than those in the conventional group (P< 0.05). No severe adverse reactions occurred in either group during treatment. Conclusion: Combined rod-needle pushing and plucking of pathological sinews is effective in treating shoulder-neck pain after thyroid surgery, significantly alleviating postoperative pain and traditional Chinese medicine syndrome manifestations.
