Abstract:Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is a chronic disease characterized by abdominal pain accompanied by intestinal dysfunction. Recent studies have found that dysregulation of the brain-gut axis is one of the core pathological mechanisms of IBS, involving complex interactions among neural, microbial, immune, and endocrine networks. Restoring brain-gut homeostasis has emerged as a novel approach for treating IBS. Heat-sensitive moxibustion, by precisely stimulating specific acupoints, can effectively regulate the neural-endocrine system of the intestine, thereby improving intestinal function and alleviating symptoms such as diarrhea and abdominal pain. This reflects the unique advantages of traditional Chinese medicine in holistic regulation. This article, centered on the brain-gut axis theory, briefly elaborates on the association between the brain-gut axis and IBS,as well as the mechanism of action of heatsensitive moxibustion in treating IBS,thus providing a theoretical reference for its clinical application.
